We would like to inform our colleagues and collaborators that Prof. Alexandros-Apostolos A. Boulogeorgos has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor and has joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH).
As Prof. Boulogeorgos is one of the founders and academic leaders of SIRIUS, in the context of his new appointment, part of the group’s activities will now be hosted at DUTH, further extending the group’s institutional presence.
About the Democritus University of Thrace
DUTH was founded in 1973 with the aim of supporting higher education and research in the region of Thrace and Northern Greece. The University is named after the ancient philosopher Democritus of Abdera, whose work symbolizes the long-standing intellectual tradition of the area.
Today, DUTH operates as a multi-campus public university, with academic units in Xanthi, Komotini, Alexandroupoli, and Orestiada. Its mission focuses on providing sound academic education, fostering research activity, and contributing to the cultural, social, and economic development of the region.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, based in Xanthi, supports undergraduate and postgraduate education and research in areas such as electrical systems, computer engineering, communications, and energy technologies.
Looking Forward
Prof. Boulogeorgos would like to express his appreciation to the University of Western Macedonia for its support. He remains grateful and looks forward to continuing collegial relations in the future.
The transition of part of SIRIUS to DUTH reflects the natural evolution of a collaborative academic structure that spans multiple institutions. We believe this development will support continued cooperation within the consortium and provide additional opportunities for students and researchers.
