{"id":1697,"date":"2026-02-01T07:33:33","date_gmt":"2026-02-01T07:33:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sirius-research.gr\/?p=1697"},"modified":"2026-02-01T07:33:33","modified_gmt":"2026-02-01T07:33:33","slug":"paper-accepted-at-eucap-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sirius-research.gr\/?p=1697","title":{"rendered":"Paper Accepted at EuCAP 2026!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Our paper entitled&nbsp;<strong>\u201cPerformance Analysis of Underwater Optical Wireless Communications Under the Joint Impact of Disorientation and Misalignment\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;has been accepted for presentation at the&nbsp;<strong>20th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The paper presents a&nbsp;<strong>unified system and channel modeling framework<\/strong>&nbsp;for underwater optical wireless communications (UOWC), incorporating the combined effects of&nbsp;<strong>path loss, scattering, turbulence, misalignment, and transmitter\/receiver disorientation<\/strong>. These impairments are among the dominant factors limiting the performance and reliability of optical links in underwater environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the proposed model, we derive analytical expressions for the&nbsp;<strong>instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)<\/strong>&nbsp;and introduce a&nbsp;<strong>novel closed-form expression for the outage probability<\/strong>, enabling accurate performance evaluation under realistic operating conditions. Additionally, an insightful outage probability formulation is obtained for the special case where the shape parameters of the sum of Gamma-distributed turbulence components are positive integers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The accuracy of the analytical results is verified through&nbsp;<strong>Monte Carlo simulations<\/strong>, which also provide&nbsp;<strong>useful design insights and guidelines<\/strong>&nbsp;for the development and optimization of robust UOWC systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Authors:<\/strong>&nbsp;Evangelos Koutsonas, Alexandros Pitilakis, Odysseas Tsilipakos, Theodoros A.
